Garden Cottage, near Coniston in the beautiful Lake District, is a wonderful little 18th century cottage which is ‘Just for Two’ people sharing. It is situated in the 1 acre grounds of Howe Foot, which is where the friendly owners, Sue and Martin live. It has a quaint beck (stream) and small bridge at the entrance in idyllic countryside ensuring peace and tranquillity during your stay.
Garden Cottage was once a former workshop for Oak Swill Basket Making which has been a traditional Lake District craft for hundreds of years. It has now been fully restored to create a truly stylish holiday home with oak beams, slate floors with rugs, a gorgeous kitchen with underfloor heating, a toasty Rayburn cooker, slate worktops and large Belfast sink.
Sue and Martin also have another cottage, Otley Beck Cottage, which is also at Howe Foot which is also ‘Just for Two’ with very similar decor and styling. It is a completely new build but has all the character and charm of Garden Cottage. It is an extension of Sue and Martin’s house but at the same time remains separate, completely private and secluded, with views out on to the fields and the beck which runs alongside the cottage. Oh, and it has an AGA too!
Both of these cottages are just perfect for a special break in the beautiful Lake District.
